Not so long ago we all knew our neighbours and knew which of them would do us a favour if we asked them for one - and our neighbours knew if we would be happy to do them a favour in return.
Life has changed and our friends and family do not always live nearby. It is not necessarily so easy to ask neighbours for help these days, particularly if we do not know if we can ever pay them back. Time Banking is a rewarding and enjoyable way to bring people together once again to share their skills. People get the help they need and help each other out by taking turns to be responsible for some of the care and practical support that we all need from time to time. Whatever your age or ability you can join in and exchange a whole range of skills.
At a Time Bank everyone's time is valued equally; one hour of sharing skills or looking out for others is rewarded with one time credit. The time credits can then be spent, when needed, on support from other local people. The system is flexible and safe and you can join in when you want to.
